Advent Concert Recap: "Stimme Afrikas" in Giessen - December 11, 2010
On December 11, 2010, our choir, Stimme Afrikas, took the stage for a magical Advent concert in Giessen, hosted by Study Affairs. This unforgettable event brought the spirit of Africa to a wintry German evening, blending cultural warmth and festive joy.
Performance Highlights
The night began with a hauntingly beautiful version of “Silent Night” in Zulu, setting the tone for an emotional evening. The repertoire included energetic renditions of classics like "Hamba Nathi" and the electrifying "Joyful, Joyful", which had the audience clapping and singing along. Each piece reflected a harmony of African tradition and Christmas cheer, creating a transcendent musical experience.
Behind the Scenes
Preparing for the concert required months of dedication and passion. Weekly rehearsals transformed into nightly practices as the date drew near. Our director, the visionary Oliver Psotta, led the choir with precision and heart, ensuring that every harmony resonated perfectly. These efforts paid off, as the performance radiated energy and unity.
Audience Reaction
The evening was nothing short of magical. Attendees from all walks of life shared how profoundly the music touched their hearts. From joyous applause to moments of reflective silence, the audience journeyed through emotions of hope, unity, and love.
Looking Ahead
This Advent concert was more than just a performance; it was a reminder of the power of music to connect cultures and uplift spirits. Inspired by the overwhelming support, we are preparing new workshops, concerts, and collaborations for the coming year. We look forward to continuing this incredible journey together.
